A 2.65 ± acre parcel located in Volusia County just off I-95 near Cape Canaveral, Florida, with direct access to a trail that forms part of the St. Johns River-to-Sea Loop—a developing 260-mile paved multiuse trail connecting five counties, coastal communities, inland springs, parks, and existing trail systems throughout northeast and east-central Florida. See more details about the loop at River to Sea Loop. Record budget deficits, tariffs, global instability, and upcoming decrease in fed funds rate are expected to drive significant inflation, making land ownership an excellent hedge. You can hold the property as an investment with minimal annual taxes (Access: Non-motorized access is via St Johns River-to-Sea Loop. Title: The interest in the property will be conveyed via special warranty deed once payment is received. Document Fee: A document fee of $599 will be added to the winning bid. Historical Summary My preliminary research suggests that the parcel may once have formed part of the John Low, sometimes spelled John Lowe, grant. On April 6, 1816, East Florida Governor José María Coppinger granted John Low approximately 16,000 acres, subject to the construction of a sawmill. The grant reportedly consisted of 6,000 acres near Doctor’s Branch or Bell River and 10,000 acres northwest of the head of the Indian River. The latter tract is associated with present-day southern Volusia County near Oak Hill. After Florida passed to the United States, Low’s heirs sought recognition of the Spanish title, and the claim was ultimately confirmed by the United States Supreme Court in 1842 in United States v. Low, 41 U.S. 162. P.S. This summary is based on informal, nonprofessional research and has not been prepared or verified by a professional historian, genealogist, land-title researcher, surveyor, or attorney. It should not be relied upon as a definitive statement of title history, parcel boundaries, or legal ownership without further review of the original land-grant records, surveys, deeds, and other official sources.
