Where does demand run hottest across U.S. government surplus? This map sorts 35,778 auctions into geographic cells, and colors each by bidding intensity - bids per lot or relative price increase. Bidding intensity is hottest in Texas and the Midwest - Holly Lake Ranch, TX is the outlier, with the average lot finishing at 43× its starting bid.
How to read it
Each hex aggregates the lots whose pickup location falls inside it (minimum 3 lots per cell), then colors on a square-root scale against the busiest markets so the low end stays readable. The top decile of cells pulses. Hover any hex for its underlying numbers.
“Bids per lot” is the truest read on live competition. “Price increase” shows how far the current bid has climbed above where the lot opened. Alaska and Hawaii are shown in the standard inset positions; lots without coordinates are excluded.
